AurumAI runs alongside MetaTrader 5 on a Windows computer that stays on. Here's how to keep it running around the clock at no extra cost — most brokers, including Exness, give you a free VPS for exactly this.

Why this matters. AurumAI is a desktop app that trades through your own MetaTrader 5. For it to watch the market and manage your trades continuously, the computer running it must stay on and awake, with MetaTrader 5 open and AurumAI running. If that machine sleeps or shuts down, AurumAI pauses. A VPS (a computer in the cloud that never turns off) solves this.

1Get a free VPS from Exness

Exness offers eligible clients a free VPS — a always-on Windows machine in the cloud, close to the trading servers for fast execution. This is the easiest, cheapest way to run AurumAI 24/7.

Open your Exness account →

  1. Don't have an Exness account? Open one with the button above (it's the broker AurumAI is optimized for), fund it, and complete verification.
  2. Log in to your Exness Personal Area at exness.com.
  3. Open the VPS section (under “Settings”, “Trading tools”, or search “VPS”). If you don't see it, contact Exness live chat and ask to enable a free VPS on your account.
  4. Exness grants the free VPS to active clients — eligibility usually requires a minimum deposit or trading activity. Ask their support for the exact current requirement (it changes, and it's often modest). If you're funding an account to trade live anyway, you'll typically qualify.
  5. Once granted, Exness gives you the VPS IP address, username and password for Remote Desktop. Keep these safe.
No spare cash for a deposit yet? You can still run AurumAI on any Windows PC you can leave on (see option 3). The free broker VPS is simply the most convenient once you're funding a live account.

2Set up AurumAI on the VPS

Once you can connect to your VPS, the setup is the same as on any PC. Do this on the VPS, not your home computer:

  1. Connect to the VPS. On Windows, open Remote Desktop Connection (search “Remote Desktop” in the Start menu), enter the VPS IP address, then the username and password Exness gave you.
  2. Install MetaTrader 5 on the VPS and log in to your broker account. Make sure gold (XAUUSD) shows in Market Watch.
  3. Install Python 3.11+ from python.org — tick “Add Python to PATH” during install.
  4. Download AurumAI from your account page (Download desktop client) onto the VPS, and unzip it.
  5. Run setup_aurum.bat and enter your MT5 details and your activation key.
  6. Run run_aurum.bat. Leave that window open. Because the VPS never turns off, AurumAI now runs 24/7 — even when your own laptop or phone is off.
Tip: You can now disconnect from Remote Desktop (just close the window — don't “sign out”). The VPS keeps running AurumAI in the background. Reconnect any time to check on it.

Quick answers

Do I have to leave my own computer on?

No — that's the whole point of a VPS. Once AurumAI runs on a VPS, your personal devices can be off. The VPS does the work.

What happens to my open trades if AurumAI stops?

In live mode, your stop-loss and take-profit are placed as real orders at your broker, so they still protect your position even if AurumAI is off. What pauses is active management (break-even, trailing) and new trades — which is exactly why 24/7 running is recommended.

Is my money or broker safe on a VPS?

Yes — AurumAI runs on your MetaTrader 5 with your broker login, on a VPS you control. We never see or hold your broker password.
